Meet Geneal Washam

What’s your title?
I am the Office Manager for Fraternity and Sorority Life 

What does that mean? In this role I am responsible for the administrative aspect of the department- working constantly behind the scenes to keep everything flowing. This role has developed me into a better leader and professional.

What is your hometown? Waynesboro, MS

Share a bit about your family. I am the proud mother of three wonderful children; Alex (high school senior), Alaysia (high school freshman) & Joseph (6th grader). We have resided in Hattiesburg for the past 10 years. My dad and mom are both retired and I have two brothers and two sisters.

What are your hobbies? What’s your passion? Some of my hobbies are fishing, traveling, attending my kid's sporting events, watching old movies, and taking nature walks. My  purpose is to be a light in this world each and every single day. To help guide others on the right path. I am passionate about people and encouraging them to be all they can be and using those life lessons to help others do the same.

When did you first hear about Southern Miss? I first heard about Southern Miss when I was in High School.

What is your best or most favorite skill or strength? I am a great listener and I enjoy encouraging others.

What college professor or advisor do you most admire? Professor Lance Hopkins

What was your major? I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship.
