The Golden Ticket

We are 'VIRTUALLY' committed to developing HEALTHY, CONNECTED, and LEARNING-FOCUSED students and communities.

The Golden Ticket is part of a new monthly program launched through the Office of the Division of Student Affairs to recognize and show our appreciation to DSA staff members that go above and beyond to leave Southern Miss better than they found it!

This program recognizes individual efforts, large and small, that meaningfully contribute to the Student Affairs mission of developing Healthy, Connected and Learning-Focused students and communities.

Josh Padgett
Josh Padgett, Superintendent of Housekeeping, was caught being GOLDEN! Here’s what his nominator had to say about him, “Josh goes above and beyond daily. Outside of leading his housekeeping team of 35 employees, Josh manages special cleaning projects in addition to cleaning 10 residence halls to assist the operation of Summer Conference. He is always available and ready to problem solve any issues that arise. He is a fun co-worker and someone you want on your team. He gets the job done with ease and takes care of his people.” After accepting his Golden Ticket, Josh stated, “Thank you very much but I wouldn’t be successful without the help of my team. They do the work with such excellence that it makes me look good.”

Pam Bullard

Congratulations to Pam Bullard, Assistant Director for Budget and Operations with Campus Recreation. Here’s what her nominator had to say, “There are a select few who really are unsung heroes within the Division of Student Affairs. One of those would be Pam Bullard of Campus Recreation. In short, Campus Recreation does not go without Pam. The Division Golf Tournament does not go without Pam, the Rodeo, which also funds the Division scholarships-does not go without Pam. Pam defines the work ethic that is critical throughout the division; caring about everything and everyone and doing what needs to be done in order to get the work done, done well, and done correctly. Pam also actively participates in the campus community serving on staff council, participating in fitness classes with her colleagues and extending her influence as a Campus Recreation Ambassador to USM as a whole. The Division is lucky to have her. “ Pam, we would like to thank you for being committed to our mission by going ABOVE and BEYOND with everything you do!

December 2019

Brent Sutphin

This month's Golden Ticket was awarded to Brent Sutphin, Technical Services Manager for the Union Complex! Take a look at what his nominators had to say: “Brent’s can do attitude and spirit has made him a “go to” person for more than just the tech management of the facility. He has become a significant player in major events such as Black and Gold Day, and more recently, the Gubernatorial Debate. Brent also recognizes the need to continually evolve for students and has been a key team member in advancing the Esports initiative. To say that Brent has a positive attitude, is a great team player, and can get the jobs done-and done well, is an understatement. He truly understands what it means to create healthy, connected, learning-focused students and communities and has an impact on all three areas through his daily activities in the Union Complex.” Thank you Brent for making our mission your mission to carry out each day.
