Little Things Matter: National Juried Small-Scale Sculpture Exhibition

Time: 8:00 a.m.
Location: George Hurst Building - Gallery of Art and Design

Visit the Gallery of Art and Design to view the exhibition of small-scale sculptures by artists from across the United States, juried by George Beasley. 

Southern Miss Traditions 

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (come and go)
Location: Ogletree House 

Visit the historic Ogletree House, home to the Southern Miss Alumni Association. Open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., be sure to drop in to tour the building, review annuals from years past, grab Southern Miss memorabilia and update your alumni information cards, if applicable. 

Tailgate Party with Eagle Dining: Lunch

Time: 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (come and go)
Location: Fresh Food Company

It's Go Gold Friday! Join us for our "Tailgate" themed lunch in the Fresh Food Company, Southern Miss's main dining hall, where we will have wings, hamburgers, dips, a nacho bar and more! Door entry is $11. Payment options include credit card, cash or a guest meal swipe.

CORE Healthy Living Speaker Series

Time: 11:50 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Location: Joseph Greene Hall, Room 104

Join the School of Kinesiology and Nutrition for the first presentation in the CORE Healthy Living Speaker Series. Dr. Holly Huye, RD, LD and Dr. Jennifer Lemacks, RD, LD will discuss what the big IDeA is with community-engaged research at Southern Miss. Refreshments will follow. Parent’s Academy: Parenting College Students

Time: 1:00 - 1:50 p.m.
Location: Scianna Hall, Room 1008

Join us as we explore the challenges (and rewards) of parenting college students in order to ensure their healthy development into adulthood. In this session we will explore: parenting tips for parenting college students, challenges of parenting emerging adults, and discuss parenting solutions to promote autonomy.

The objective is to help participants understand the changing role of parenting once young adults become college students and how to help promote autonomy and support during this next stage of development. Whether your student lives at home, is down the street, or several hours away, this session may prove useful for you.

Seymour’s Closet: Parent and Family Weekend Service Project

Time: 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. (come and go)
Location: Bolton Hall, First Floor

Donate to Seymour’s Career Closet, a new program at Southern Miss which allows students to shop for FREE clothing in preparation for job interviews, internships, networking events, etc. Items accepted include both men’s and women’s suits, blazers, blouses, slacks, dresses, skirts, dress shoes, belts, ties, and portfolios. All sizes needed. 

Master of Athletic Training Open House

The Master of Science in Athletic Training Program's open house will include an informational session, tour of the simulation lab, cadaver lab and athletic facilities. To attend either of the open house events, your Southern Miss student must complete the registration form

  • Program Overview and Walking Tour (2:00 - 4:30 p.m.)
  • Reception with Current Students (4:30 - 5:00 p.m.)
Climb Time!

Time: 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. (come and go)
Location: Payne Center

Fun for the entire family! The indoor rock wall on the first floor of the Payne Center is a must see! The rock wall is 1,200 sq. ft. of climbing space under a 30 ft. ceiling. All climbers are required to wear an armband before being eligible to climb. In order to receive an armband, participants must sign a Rock Climbing wall waiver. Click here to download and sign the waiver. Please be sure to bring your signed waiver with you on the day of the event.

All climbers under the age of 18 will need to provide a waiver with their parents’ or guardians’ signature before being issued an armband and becoming eligible to climb. Each participant is required to wear a COVID – 19 approved face mask while inside the Payne Center. Campus Recreation has all needed equipment available in the Payne Center for participants interested in climbing. In the event climbers have their own equipment a rock wall supervisor will inspect it before allowing it to be used. New and experienced climbers are welcomed!

Friday Night at Spirit Park

Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Spirit Station

Southern Miss alumni and fans are invited to get a glimpse into one of the Alumni Association’s newest home game weekend experiences – Friday Night @ Spirit Park (formerly Friday Night at the Fountain). The festivities include performances by The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, the Dixie Darlings, the Southern Miss Cheerleaders and the Southern Misses, as well as appearances by Seymour, athletic coaches and players, followed by a live music act in Southern Station.

Forrest County Farmer's Market

Time: 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (come and go)
Location: 1200 Corinne Street

Open year-round, in an enclosed-indoor space, local vendors offer the best for local customers, including gifts and art for all holidays. Ready-to-eat items, from entrees to dessert, homemade canned goods, crafts, furniture and toys are available. Consumers may also select fresh produce in all seasons. Additionally, take advantage of custom sewing and alterations for fashionistas of all ages.

Lucky Rabbit Market  

Time: 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. (come and go)
Location: 217 Mobile St.

The Lucky Rabbit is a 15,000 square foot variety store filled with unique finds and nostalgic treasures from long ago. Brandon and Abby Thaxton created the Lucky Rabbit in 2013. They had a small budget, but big vision. Nearly 9 years later, the store has grown to become one of Hattiesburg’s local favorite places to visit and bring the family. The unique shop boasts over-the-top displays, such as vintage arcades, old cola machines, working payphone booths, and old video game systems.  Additionally, Brandon and Abby focus on fun displays that are great for photos, such as a 1978 Westfalia Volkswagen Bus, a cute vintage camper, and nostalgic TV show recreations.

Downtown Maker's Market

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (come and go)
Location: Town Square Park, Downtown Hattiesburg

Take part in Hattiesburg's Downtown Maker's Market, which consists of handmade, artisan crafts and live demonstrations.

Parent and Family Tailgate

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Location: Payne Center Front Lawn 

Tailgating is an opportunity for comradery between alumni and friends to boost school spirit and pride for the Southern Miss football game. Join Parent and Family Programs within The Center for Student Success on the Payne Center Lawn anytime from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (come and go style), check-in concludes at 12:30 p.m. Registration is required to attend the tailgate. Eagle Walk

Time: 12:00 p.m.

The Eagle Walk is a living monument that recognizes Southern Miss’ proud history of athletic excellence. On game day at Southern Miss, a cannon is fired and participants march in our Eagle Walk Parade from the Aubrey K. Lucas Administration Building to The Rock. The Eagle Walk is a celebration of the spirit of Southern Miss football and allows fans to cheer on the team before entering the stadium. 

Southern Miss vs. North Texas

Time: 2:00 p.m.
Location: M.M. Roberts Stadium

Cheer for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles as they take on North Texas Mean Green! The halftime musical selections are scheduled to include: America, Veterans' Salute and Stars and Stripes Forever.

Explore Hattiesburg & Dinner

Time: 5:30 p.m. - until
Location: Downtown Hattiesburg, Midtown and West Hattiesburg

There are so many amazing things to do in Hattiesburg. Better yet, there's something for everyone! Whether an outdoor adventure or stepping it up on the jazzy scene is your cup of tea, Hattiesburg has a little something to offer everyone. Grab your spokes and bike 44 miles down the Longleaf Trace.

Plan a family outing visiting the Hattiesburg Zoo to climb high in the sky at The High Ropes Adventure Course. Pop into a shop in Downtown Hattiesburg or revel in the savory scene for a bite at a Midtown Hattiesburg eatery.
