Success Ambassador Program

What is the Success Ambassador Program?
Success Ambassadors are a select group of students who serve as official hosts of the Student Success Center.  Ambassadors have an opportunity to attend special meetings with the SSC staff, at which they can share their views and perspectives about their academic experiences at Southern Miss.  They will act as hosts at special events, facilitate workshops, serve as peer mentors, and assist with advisement and registration events.

Who is eligible to participate?

Applicants should be students who have an interest in promoting the services and resources of the Student Success Center to new and continuing students, as well as students who also wish to serve as mentors to peer undergraduates.  Students must also be in good academic standing to be eligible and have completed at lesat one semester (12 hours or more) at Southern Miss.
Success Ambassadors will develop valuable communication and leadership skills that prepare them for the future.  Students will also have numerous opportunities to interact not only with fellow students, but with university administration, faculty, and staff.

What are some examples of participation?
Success Ambassadors are called upon to assist with Freshman Move-In Days, mentor undeclared students, attend Student Success workshop events, do presentations for UNV 101 classes, host pre-advisement workshops, visit residence halls, and help with orientation events.

To apply:
1. Submit a completed application to the Student Success Center (McLemore Hall, room 214) by 5 p.m. on April 15.
2. First round selections will be made based on blind application review.  Selected applicants will be called for interviews.
3. 2013 Success Ambassadors will be selected after the interview round and notified via the email address submitted on the application.
