Opportunities for Small Scale Suppliers of Biomass Feedstock in Claiborne County, Miss

Working with Alcorn University and the Claiborne County Economic Development District a student team determined best practices for systems of small-scale operations biomass feedstock supply chains.  They also analyzed the biomass industry and transportation assets in Claiborne County. Their research segments the market into the development of Miscanthus giganteus for biofuel and woody biomass for energy production (e.g., wood pellets).  The aim of this project is to provide county officials and the agriculture sector with information on the opportunities for small, primarily African American, farmers to grow biomass feedstock.
