Opportunities abound to gain experience doing marine science while working with research-active faculty and graduate students on projects that range from understanding the molecular ecology of harmful algal blooms to the role of fungi in the biogeochemical cycling characteristic of coastal marshes.

Our Biological Sciences Learning Center, located on the ground level of Mississippi Hall, serves as an undergraduate biology laboratory, a teacher training facility and the home to science camps, our Biology Trail and an interactive, hands-on museum. A select group of undergraduate students serves as docents for visitors and assists in laboratories for non-major students.
