The Department of Biological Sciences at The University of Southern Mississippi (www.usm.edu/biology) invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professor positions in basic biomedical sciences. The successful candidates will join our growing and collaborative microbiology/molecular biology group in the Department of Biological Sciences and across the College of Science and Technology. We seek outstanding candidates who are applying innovative molecular, cellular, and/or ‘omics-related approaches within the area of biomedical sciences--broadly defined in such areas as microbiology, physiology, cancer biology, and biomedical engineering. Successful candidates are expected to develop an independent, extramurally funded research program, mentor graduate students, and participate in undergraduate/graduate teaching in their area of expertise. Applicants must hold an earned Ph.D. in an appropriate field and have relevant postdoctoral experience. A competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, competitive startup package, lab space, and state-of-the-art facilities will be provided. The positions will begin August 2012.
