Today is an exciting time to study biology. Over the last half
century, we have witnessed unprecedented breakthroughs in
molecular genetics, cellular biology, and neurobiology as well
as gained a deeper understanding of the environment around us.
Those of us affiliated with the Department of Biological
Sciences, one of the largest academic units within The
University of Southern Mississippi, strive to provide high
quality education through programs of instruction and research,
to advance the body of scientific knowledge through the
scholarship of discovery, integration and application, and to
offer technical and educational expertise locally, regionally,
nationally, and internationally.
