Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Authorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010

Congress passed and President Obama signed a law Dec. 17 that provides for a 2% payroll tax cut for employees, reducing their Social Security tax withholding from 6.2% to 4.2% on wages paid in calendar year 2011.

This reduction will have no impact on the employee’s future Social Security benefit.

Health Risk Assessment

Effective January 1, 2012 particiapants of the State of Mississippi health plan are no longer required to complete the HealthQuotient (HQ) health risk assessment to accesss wellness/preventive services.  Although the HQ is not required, participants are encouraged to complete the HQ to recieve a personalized wellness plan and have access to online lifestyle improvement programs.
