Policy Statement


Use, sale and the attempt to purchase drugs or drug paraphernalia is prohibited in the residence halls.

 


Reason for Policy/Purpose


This policy is required for the effective communication of university policy regarding drugs.

All students of The University of Southern Mississippi community living on campus.

Policy/Procedures


In accordance with the state law and Southern Miss policy, the illegal possession, use, sale or attempt to obtain any drug (including marijuana and prescription drugs) or drug-related paraphernalia is prohibited in university residence halls. Failure to comply with this guideline creates grounds for eviction from the residence hall community and/or expulsion from the university. Campus violations resulting in interim suspension will result in an immediate loss of housing privileges. Items should be removed from room within 10 calendar days of the suspension.

 


Review


The Director of Student Housing Administration is responsible for the review of this policy every four years (or whenever circumstances require immediate review).
