Bruno Lourensetto

Student Spotlight

Bruno Lourensetto

Master’s student Bruno Lourensetto, a native of Itu – São Paulo, Brazil, was a member of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas during the 2009 tour to Canada and the United States. “It was an great opportunity to work with the most talented musicians from South, Central and North America,” says Lourensetto.

Principal conductors of the tour included: Carlos Miguel Prieto, Director of Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional de México, Orquesta Sinfonica de Minería, Louisiana Philarmonic and Huntsville Symphony and Benjamin Zander, Boston Philharmonic Orchestra.

Recently, Bruno has been invited to be a part of the All-Star Youth Orchestra of the Americas. In February 2010, he will participate in a concert at Carnegie Hall in New York under the baton of Valery Gergiev with soloist Joshua Bell.
Bruno is a member of the Southern Arts Brass Quintet Faculty Quintet, principal trumpet with the Southern Miss Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble and Graduate Brass Quintet. He has also performed with the Louisiana Philharmonic, Mobile Symphony Orchestra, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra and the Meridian Symphony Orchestra.

Bruno has a B.S. from the University of São Paulo, Brazil music program. While an undergraduate, he was a member of the University of Sao Paulo Chamber Orchestra, the Heliopolis Symphony Orchestra, the São Paulo State Youth Orchestra and the Uninorte Orchestra in Paraguay. He was also a trumpet instructor at the ‘Assatemec’, a school of music for low-income children in Itu. Bruno was a founding member of the USP Brass Quintet, which performed several concerts around São Paulo State including a tour in Italy and Switzerland. He also received an honor as a chamber music performer at the University of São Paulo for two consecutive years.
