The cultivation of state-of-the-art technology, innovative products and services is in full swing on the site of what was once The University of Southern Mississippi’s golf course and before that a college farm.

Known as The Garden, the university’s 521-acre innovation and commercialization park is where the university’s cutting-edge research is transformed into valued products and services for the marketplace.

It is also home to:

  • the National Formulation Science Laboratory, which houses laboratory space, a business incubator and other facilities
  • the Mississippi Polymer Institute
  • Vindris Development Company
  • other organizations working in concert with the Area Development Partnership to expedite the movement of innovative research from the lab to the marketplace.

The Accelerator

The Accelerator is a unique business incubator located in The Garden. At 60,000 square feet, The Accelerator provides state-of-the-art space, technology and professional advice to start-up companies.

The Accelerator’s concept foundation is formulation science with the National Formulation Science Lab serving as the prime component. The facility also houses the Mississippi Polymer Institute which provides rapid prototyping, valuable analytical and physical testing capabilities, scale-up assistance and polymer processing expertise.
