Athletic Training, B.S.

Professional Licensure Disclosure- This program is designed to prepare students to sit for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam. Upon graduating, passing the BOC exam, and having or obtaining an approved emergency cardiac care card, individuals can apply for certification through the BOC and become certified athletic trainers (ATC). Certified athletic trainers can then apply for licensure in 46 states and the District of Columbia.

The School of Professional Nursing Practice has determined that completion of the Bachelors in Nursing (Traditional Program) prepares a student to take the national licensure examination for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN®).  Passage of the national exam is required for licensure in all 50 U.S. states and U.S. protectorates.  It is each individual’s responsibility to understand, evaluate, and comply with all requirements relating to national certification exams for the state in which he or she intends to practice as educational requirements may vary widely including, but not limited to, the number of clinical hours required by the state as well as specific coursework.  Nursing boards may also require additional information, including, but not limited to, documentation verifying citizenship and/or right to work (i.e. social security number) as well as criminal background checks/fingerprinting.

Nurse Anesthetist

The University of Southern Mississippi School of Professional Nursing Practice has determined that completion of the Doctorate In Nursing (Nurse Anesthesia) prepares a student to take apply for certification as a Board Certified Nurse Anesthetists through the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) and then subsequently apply for state licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in any of the 50 states and in any U.S. protectorate.

Nursing (BSN to DNP Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) DNP

he University of Southern Mississippi School of Professional Nursing Practice has determined that completion of the Nursing (BSN to DNP Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, DNP) and the Nursing (Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner), Graduate Certificate both prepare a student to take the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner exam administered by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) required to apply for state certification.  Individuals applying for licensure will also be required by ANCC to complete faculty-supervised clinical hours.  It is each individual’s responsibility to understand, evaluate, and comply with all requirements relating to national certification exams for the state in which he or she intends to practice as requirements vary widely.

Nursing (Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner) Graduate Certificate

Professional Licensure Disclosure- The University of Southern Mississippi School of Professional Nursing Practice has determined that completion of the Nursing (BSN to DNP Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, DNP) and the Nursing (Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner), Graduate Certificate both prepare a student to take the psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner exam administered by the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) required to apply for state certification.  Individuals applying for licensure will also be required by ANCC to complete faculty-supervised clinical hours.  It is each individual’s responsibility to understand, evaluate, and comply with all requirements relating to national certification exams for the state in which he or she intends to practice as requirements vary widely.
