As a benefit-eligible employee of the University of Mississippi employee, you are eligible for health plan options, retirement plans, life insurance, and more. While many of these programs are administered by the State of Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration, our Benefits team helps new employees understand their options, supports new families, assists employees with work-related injuries, and provides those preparing to retire with resources and guidance. Our Benefits team is part of the University Human Resources team.
Medical reimbursement and dependent child care:
**Please complete all personal information on the enrollment forms before your appointment with the benefits teams. Regardless if you are enrolling or waiving the insurance policies, you must complete all forms. Failure to complete all personal information prior to your appointment could result in your appointment being rescheduled.
The University provides standard workers' compensation coverage under a self-insurance
program in accordance with Mississippi State laws that, in general, prescribe the
amounts of indemnity payable for the degrees of disability, temporary or regular,
and for death if the injury or disability occurs on the job. These laws also provide
for medical care, hospitalization, and weekly compensation for the period of disability.
All on-the-job injuries should be reported immediately to the employee's supervisor
and University Human Resources. A first report of injury must be completed for claim purposes and sent to Human Resources.
Worker's Compensation General Information
Each injury is treated through HealthWorks 4209 Lincoln Road, Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Coast employees should be seen by the Occupational Medical Facilities of Memorial or Singing River Hospitals.
