Bio

Dr. Mary Funk came to The University of Southern Mississippi after serving 25 years as a military air traffic controller. Since earning a doctorate in Human Capital Development with an emphasis in Economic Development she has served in many roles which significantly add to her vast experience in assisting students to achieve their education goals. Mary was awarded a fellowship with the Association of College and University Educators and holds the title of ACUE Distinguished Teaching Professor. She maintains a formal appointment in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Professional Development and serves as the program coordinator for the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies on the USM Gulf Park campus. She currently resides in Ocean Springs, Mississippi with her family and two cats.
