Bio

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, I graduated from Mountain Brook High School in 1975. I earned a B.S. degree from Auburn University in Zoology in 1980 and in 1986 I completed my M.S. degree with the title of my thesis being ÔÇťAntipredator Behaviors of the Eastern Gray Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis). In 2005, I was hired by the University of Southern Mississippi as an Instructor & Lab Coordinator on the Gulf Park campus. I am currently a Lecturer and teach a variety of courses and labs including Zoology, Introductory Ecology, Anatomy & Physiology, Animal Behavior, and Vertebrate Biology. In 2006 I was awarded the Butch Oustalet Award for teaching and I am a member of several professional organizations including the Animal Behavior Society and the National Audubon Society as well as being certified as a Louisiana Master Naturalist
