Dr. Kaden Stevens
Assistant Professor
Bio
The Stevens Research Group makes, breaks and assembles polymers to generate novel materials with exceptional properties. Before joining USM in the fall of 2025, Kaden was a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Florida Department of Chemistry from 2023-2025 where he worked with Brent Sumerlin. For graduate school, Kaden attended the University of Chicago where he worked with Matthew Tirrell in the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering. The SRG is currently interested in controlling polymer sequence and tactility during radical polymerizations, finding new ways to create non-linear polymers, developing better nucleic acid delivery vehicles and harnessing depolymerization as a lithography tool to make structured polymeric materials. In his free time, he enjoys playing with his wife and kids, reading anything he can get his hands on, and writing/recording music.
