Bio

Dr. Kari Smith Murphy is an Assistant Professor of Educational Research and Administration at The University of Southern Mississippi, where she teaches in the Educational Administration program. Before entering higher education, she spent nearly a decade in K-12 education as a classroom teacher, coach, and administrator. Her research focuses on teacher workload, burnout, and retention, particularly the policies and working conditions that shape educators’ experiences. A native Georgian and first-generation college graduate, she now lives in Mississippi with her husband, Blake, a fellow educator, their son, Landon, and their three dogs.
