Bio

Dr. Shawntell N. Pace is a nationally recognized, award-winning scientist-practitioner whose work bridges research, practice, and community. Her research centers the experiences, strengths, and well-being of communities across the African and Pacific Islander diasporas, with a focus on racial and community trauma, cultural identity, and culturally grounded pathways to healing.

Rooted in Black Psychology and Liberation Psychology, Dr. Pace examines how cultural and communal resources (e.g., critical consciousness, historical knowledge, and cultural wisdom) promote individual and collective healing and well-being. Her work seeks to move knowledge beyond academic spaces by developing, implementing, and evaluating culturally responsive approaches to mental health that are grounded in community knowledge and accountable to the people they are intended to serve.
