Opportunities for Giving

We recruit the best and the brightest students in Mississippi and beyond, and we want them to take advantage of all that Honors College offers—smaller classes, dedicated advising, scholarships, the Honor House, and Honors Forum, to name a few.
We are especially interested in encouraging our students to take part in experiential learning opportunities, like study abroad, undergraduate research, University Forum, and active learning trips, as they work to become the researchers, creators, and visionaries who will one day transform Mississippi, the nation, and the world.
Support Our Mission
The Laureate Circle
Whether you are an alumnus, a parent, a community member, or a community organization, we invite you to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of the Southern Miss Honors College by joining The Laureate Circle. Inspired by Honors Colloquium and our focus on sitting in a circle while building knowledge together, The Laureate Circle recognizes donors who give $1,000 or more to any of our funds as we prepare to celebrate fifty years of academic rigor, interdisciplinary inquiry, and academic community. As a token of our appreciation for joining The Laureate Circle, you will receive a copy of the common read book that all entering freshman read during Honors Colloquium. The 2025-2026 Colloquium theme is Exploration, and while each section of Colloquium approaches this topic differently, all sections read, discuss, and write about Dava Sobel’s Longitude: The True Story of a Lone Genuis Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Mystery of His Time. A generous donor has offered to match donations of $1,000 or more to the Honors College Development Fund (0220), up to a total of $25,000! |
Dr. Wallace G. Kay Distinguished Honors Professorship
This endowed professorship honoring the first dean of the Honors College, Dr. Wallace G. Kay, will support a faculty member whose teaching, research, and service reflect the values Dr. Kay championed—innovation, student-centeredness and bold interdisciplinary inquiry. Endowed faculty positions ensure students learn from leaders in their fields, foster innovation in the classroom and beyond, and create a legacy that shapes generations. |
