The University of Southern Mississippi’s College Panhellenic Council (CPC) recently earned three awards from the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), reflecting its strongest recognition from the organization in recent years.
Award recipients are selected based on applications submitted by campus Panhellenic organizations across the nation. The application includes questions about specific efforts and programming that enhance the sorority experience, including leadership, service, recruitment, marketing and belonging. After reviewing applications, NPC selects campuses that reflect high ideals and achievement in each category.
NPC awards earned by the Southern Miss CPC include:
- Innovation in Access, Belonging, and Community Impact: Awarded to Panhellenic councils that work to make sorority life accessible to women of all backgrounds, ensure all members feel seen and heard, and strive to make a positive impact on campus and in the community.
- Innovation in Recruitment: Awarded to Panhellenic councils using creative strategies to make recruitment accessible and values-driven, promote chapter collaboration and positively impact potential new members.
- Innovation in Leadership: Awarded to Panhellenic councils that demonstrate strong, creative leadership development to empower sorority women and promote collaboration among chapters.
“These awards greatly support sorority life here at Southern Miss,” said CPC President Ali Lore, a senior nursing major from Madisonville, La. “They show how the Southern Miss Panhellenic is not only upholding, but advancing the values, standards and goals of the National Panhellenic Conference, recognizing our dedication and continued efforts to foster fraternal values and enhance the sorority experience.
“We are incredibly excited about this accomplishment, and we hope to continue this level of success and more in the future.”
The Southern Miss CPC community includes eight NPC sorority chapters, with the stated goal of “embracing all students across campus, equipping its members with personal and leadership development opportunities, and empowering our community to leave campus better than they found it.”
These organizations include:
- Alpha Chi Omega (Kappa Sigma Chapter)
- Alpha Delta Pi (Eta Zeta Chapter)
- Chi Omega (Epsilon Delta Chapter)
- Delta Delta Delta (Phi Epsilon Chapter)
- Delta Gamma (Delta Pi)
- Kappa Delta (Beta Sigma)
- Phi Mu (Alpha Omicron Chapter)
- Pi Beta Phi (MS Alpha Chapter)
“I’m so proud of my CPC leaders for being recognized for this incredibly important work,” said Hannah Back, coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life. “These honors reflect their dedication, creativity and commitment to making the fraternity and sorority experience at Southern Miss both welcoming and impactful. They continue to inspire me, and I’m grateful to work alongside them.”
