Lauren Cranford will be recognized with the Cornerstone Award at the 2026 National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition on June 23-25 in Palm Desert, Calif. The event is presented annually by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi.
The Cornerstone Award recognizes individuals who have played an integral role in the foundation of the NCS4 and/or provided leadership in the development and growth of NCS4 programs.
“Lauren has been instrumental in the growth of NCS4. Her exceptional leadership and commitment to quality have elevated our training programs and events nationally, and her industry connections have ensured we develop resources that truly serve the event safety and security community,” said Dr. Stacey Hall, NCS4 executive director. “She is more than deserving of this recognition, and the NCS4 team is grateful for her years of service and all she has accomplished during her tenure.”
Lauren serves as the director of operations at the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS⁴). After eight years in public health, she joined the Center in 2008 as a project manager, where she led the management of NCS⁴’s first-ever training grant through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FEMA—helping to establish a foundation that continues to support the Center’s mission today.
Over the years, Lauren has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of NCS⁴, contributing significantly to the development and expansion of its DHS/FEMA training programs and its national conference and forums. In her current role, she oversees all operational functions of the Center, including grants management, budgeting, training programs and major events.
Her leadership, dedication and lasting contributions have been instrumental in shaping the foundation and continued advancement of NCS⁴, making her a deserving recipient of the Cornerstone Award.
“Receiving the Cornerstone Award is incredibly meaningful to me because NCS⁴ has been such a significant part of my professional journey,” said Cranford. “To have had the opportunity to help build and grow programs that make a real impact is something I’m deeply grateful for, and I share this honor with the many colleagues who have been part of that work along the way.”
Cranford will be recognized at the awards luncheon during the conference. The luncheon is sponsored by Evolv Technology, which provides weapons detection systems for security screening.
