USM Researcher's Device Aims to Prevent Respiratory Complications from Ventilators in COVID-19, ICU and Surgery Patients
Mechanical ventilation is a life-saving treatment, but it can also introduce complications to a hospital patient’s treatment plan. Saliva can likely to pool in the endotracheal tube connected to a patient’s ventilator, which may lead to a host of problems, including bacterial infections and pneumonia.

Dr. John “Bret” Becton has been selected as the new dean of The University of Southern Mississippi’s College of Business and Economic Development. He officially began his work on July 1.
