An Investment in the Health and Economy of Mississippi and the Gulf Coast

Page Content

The University of Southern Mississippi Trent Lott Center and Arduin, Laffer, and Moore Econometrics conducted a study for the Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District to analyze the economic impact of several known future developments in the master planned community of Tradition, Mississippi. It assesses the impact of Mississippi’s potential growth from two sides—business and health. The report established a baseline narrative describing the condition of the economies of Mississippi and the Gulfport-Biloxi-Pascagoula region relative to the United States and analyzed the range and depth of the growing issue of diabetes and obesity in Mississippi. Tradition’s planned community and medical city is anticipated to have a significant impact on both economic and health growth for Mississippi.
