HATTIESBURG CAMPUS FALL VISIT DAYS

BLACK AND GOLD DAY

Black and Gold Day is our annual fall campus visit experience exclusively for high school seniors and their parents! Black and Gold Day activities include:

  • Campus Tours
    Tour the beautiful Southern Miss campus and a residence hall with a student tour guide.
  • Admissions, Financial Aid, and Scholarship Overview
    Learn the essential information your family will need to know about admission to Southern Miss and receive helpful insight about financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
  • Academic Programs
    Visit with representatives from our six academic colleges to learn more about the undergraduate programs and careers that interest you.
  • Student Organization and Campus Department Fair
    Talk with current students and staff about resources, activities, and student organizations that will make your Southern Miss college experience successful and exciting.

After Black and Gold Day, we invite you to stick around to take part in time-honored Southern Miss game day traditions:

  • Eagle Walk – Two hours before kickoff, fans line up along College Drive and Eagle Walk Drive to watch The Pride of Mississippi Marching Band, Seymour, the Dixie Darlings, cheerleaders, and the Golden Eagle football team parade to The Rock. Keep an ear open for a blast from the ROTC cannon signaling the start of Eagle Walk!
  • Tailgating – Check out the vibrant tailgating scene around campus, making sure you visit The District. Situated south of the Ogletree Alumni House, The District is one of the most popular tailgating spots on campus for students, alumni, and friends.
  • Fraternity and Sorority Life Cook-out – Following Black & Gold Day, join current members and alumni for a cook-out and to learn more about fraternity and sorority membership at Southern Miss. The cook-out will take place on Centennial Green from 12:45-2:15 p.m. The event is $10 per student and free for guests. Registration is required and open only to Black & Gold Day attendees and their guests. Students will have the opportunity to register for the cook-out after registering for Black & Gold Day. 
  • Game Day at the Rock – Join us in M.M. Roberts Stadium, affectionately known as “The Rock,” for the Southern Miss vs. UTEP (Saturday, Sept. 28, 6 p.m. kickoff) or Southern Miss vs. UAB (Saturday, Nov. 9, 2:30 p.m. kickoff) football games!
 *There is no cost to attend Black and Gold Day. Upon registration, football tickets will be available for purchase at a discounted rate for Black and Gold Day attendees and their guests.

LEGACIES AND SCHOLARS RECEPTION

  • Tuesday, October 22, 2019
  • 6:30 – 8 p.m., Giannini Touchdown Terrace, located in the South End Zone of M.M. Roberts Stadium on the Hattiesburg Campus

*Online registration for the Legacies & Scholars Reception is now closed. If you would like to attend this event, you are welcome to register during check-in. Check-in will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the Giannini Touchdown Terrace located in the South End Zone of M.M. Roberts Stadium on the Hattiesburg campus. Please enter through Gate 6, located at the southeast corner of the stadium.

Scholars and Southern Miss legacies who are high school juniors and seniors from the Pine Belt, as well as their parents, area are invited to attend a reception honoring their achievements. Hear from Southern Miss admission counselors about the admission process, learn about scholarship and financial aid opportunities, visit with representatives from the academic colleges, and discover the fun, rewarding college experience that is waiting for you at Southern Miss!

 *There is no cost to attend Legacies and Scholars Reception.

HONORS DAY

The Honors College at Southern Miss has been thriving as an independent college for more than four decades. Joining the Honors College means being a part of a diverse community of highly motivated students, engaged faculty, and supportive staff.

Our curious and driven Honors scholars complete a four-year developmental curriculum. Small classes allow thought-provoking discussion, creative professors afford interdisciplinary and active learning, and students graduate having completed undergraduate research. Our bar is high and our Honors Eagles soar to the occasion.

During Honors Day, you will join current and future Honors College students on campus at Southern Miss to:

  • Meet the Honors College dean, faculty, and staff;
  • Learn more about our dynamic curriculum, active learning trips, and research opportunities;
  • Tour campus and Honors housing; and
  • Find out more about the application and admission process to the Honors College.

PHI THETA KAPPA LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

*This event is invitation only for current Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society members.

*Registration deadline is Nov. 4, 2019. Due to high demand, Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Summit typically reaches capacity before the registration deadline, so guests are encourage to register early.

The Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Summit is a special event reserved for current Phi Theta Kappa members. During the PTK Leadership Summit, you will have the opportunity to participate in programming that focuses on leadership and character development, nationally competitive scholarship opportunities, along with information about specific academic opportunities at The University of Southern Mississippi. Lunch will also be provided. 

Make plans to spend the day with us after the PTK Leadership Summit, and attend Transfer Visit Day, our fall campus visit experience for transfer students, in the Thad Cochran Center from 1-5 p.m. At Transfer Visit Day, you can visit with representatives from your intended academic college, learn more about financial aid and scholarship opportunities specific to PTK members, check your admission status - or apply to Southern Miss, talk with your current students and staff about resources and activities that will make your experience successful and exciting, and tour a residence hall. 

FALL TRANSFER VISIT DAY

  • Friday, November 8, 2019
  • 1 – 5 p.m., Thad Cochran Center

Transfer Visit Day is fall campus visit experience exclusively for prospective transfer students! Transfer Visit Day activities include:

  • Financial Aid and Scholarship Overview
    Learn more about financial aid and scholarship opportunities for transfer students.
  • Check Your Admission Status
    Check on your application status or begin the application process. Representatives from the Office of Admissions will be available to assist you.
  • Academic Programs
    Visit with representatives from your intended academic college.
  • Campus and Residence Hall Tours
    Tour the beautiful Southern Miss campus and a residence hall with a student tour guide.
  • Student Organization and Campus Department Fair
    Talk with current students and staff about resources, activities, and student organizations that will make your Southern Miss college experience successful and exciting.

Make a weekend of Transfer Visit Day, and stick around for the Southern Miss vs. UAB home football game on Saturday, November 9, in The Rock! Be a part of some of Southern Miss’s most time-honored game day traditions:

BATON ROUGE INFORMATION NIGHT

High school juniors and seniors and their parents from the Baton Rouge area are invited to attend this Information Night. Hear from Southern Miss admission counselors about the admission process, learn about scholarship and financial aid opportunities, and discover the fun, rewarding college experience that is waiting for you at Southern Miss!

SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI INFORMATION SESSION
