Freshman National Merit Scholarships

deadlines:

• December 1: students must be admitted to southern miss.  Priority Application Date for National Merit Semifinalist Scholarships in the GO System.

• May 1: Application submission deadline for Semifinalist and finalist scholarships in the GO System. (Finalists must list usm as their first-choice institution with the national merit corporation)

 

To apply for Freshman National Merit Scholarships sign into the Golden Opportunities (GO) Scholarship Application System and complete the general and national merit application(s).  Click here to access the GO Application.

National Merit SCHOLARSHIPs

• Semifinalist | Scholarship equivalent to tuition for four years.

• Finalist | Scholarship equivalent to tuition, campus housing, meal plan, and a $500 semester educational allowance for four years.  Finalists will also receive a one-time $4,000 study abroad scholarship.

• Finalists must list The University of Southern Mississippi as his/her first-choice institution with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation by May 1.

• Semifinalist and Finalists must complete the online application in the GO System with official documentation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation by May 1.  We encourage Semifinalists to submit his/her documentaion by December first for early awarding.
