Office of Research Support Services - CEHS

Pre-Award Services

Our department aims to serve researchers in the pre-award phases of grant proposals. This includes establishing a detailed proposal timeline that will ensure proposals are submitted in a timely manner. We also include in-depth aid in determining forms, templates, and processes needed for each specific funding agency as well as assistance in submission in InfoEd. Our services also include assistance in establishing budgets based on university guidelines.

Assist by thoroughly reading the RFP/FOA, noting all items that must be included in the proposal, along with any requirements for formatting, page limits or section header requirements.

Create a timeline for completing and submitting sections of the proposal to keep the project on track throughout the process, reducing the likelihood of last-minute cramming which can lead to errors or omissions. All major milestones of the proposal process will have clear deadlines.

Budget options include assistance in creating, review, and submission of budgets within the university guidelines. Templates provided for budget management upon award.

ClickUp is a project management software that allows for all documentation, collaboration, and correspondence related to the project to be housed and managed in one place, reducing time and effort spent looking through emails or folders to find files or information.

Act as liaison to ORA, communicating your intentions and ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely manner for the entire pre-award phase.

Please download our Pre Award Work Request Form, fill it out and Email it to us to begin the process. We will contact you to setup a meeting.

Post-Award Services

(Optional) Offering resources to aid in the implementation of budget templates, timelines, and expense tracking.

Establish reminders for progress reports, financial reporting etc.

Upon award, a budget template is developed specific to each funded award, with the option of budget management for the life of the grant.

With the use of ClickUP, at the end of each grant life-cycle utilizing post-award management, all documents from proposal to the close-out process are available  for 7 years.

If you would like post award support, please fill out our Post Award Work Request Form and Email it to us. We will contact you to setup an initial meeting.

Grant Proposal Resources

Use these resources to prepare your proposed budget for submittal to the Office of Research Administration for review.  If you have questions about budget preparation, please contact Liz%20Edwards. We can also build your budget for you.

  • ORA Required In-House Budget Template: This excel spreadsheet is a standard template used by some Office of Research Administration staff for budget preparation.
  • Budget Justification Template: This word document includes commonly used budget categories that match those on the in-house budget. Item justifications are described and standard verbiage is included.
  • Fringe Rate Calculator: Use the fringe rate calculators from the Office of Fiscal Planning and Analysis to determine what percentage of salary is required for fringe expenses. These change intermittently, so download a new version for each budget preparation.
