Dr. Rene Drumm

Full Professor


René Drumm serves as the Associate Dean for the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Southern Mississippi on the Gulf Park Campus. Dr. Drumm has worked in higher education for more than 25 years. Her positions included serving as the Dean of the School of Social Work, MSW clinical program director and BSW program director. Dr. Drumm holds a PhD degree in Sociology from Texas Woman's University and the Master of Social Work degree from Michigan State University. Having a keen interest in the intersection of religion and social issues, Dr. Drumm has studied domestic violence in the Seventh-day Adventist church, faith-based residential treatment, and sexual identity formation in faith communities. Believing that research is a vehicle to social change, she is committed to facilitating positive conversations with religious institutions to address social injustice. She has authored and co-authored numerous academic articles and book chapters.
