The Student Economic Development Association (SEDA) is a student-led professional organization within the College of Business and Economic Development at The University of Southern Mississippi. Anchored in the Master of Science in Economic Development program, SEDA provides graduate and undergraduate students with opportunities to expand their professional skills, build networks, and contribute to community growth.
Through professional development workshops, networking events with alumni and practitioners, and experiential learning opportunities, SEDA prepares students to excel as future leaders in the field of economic development. Members also engage in community service, volunteer initiatives, and outreach activities that support the economic vitality of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and beyond.
SEDA is guided by five core values: Integrity, Collaboration, Excellence, Innovation, and Service. These values shape our mission of preparing the next generation of economic development professionals to strengthen communities and economies at the local, regional, national, and international levels.
