Page Content

The True South Basic Economic Development Course is an introductory course exposing participants to the fundamentals and practice of creating jobs, increasing wealth, improving the tax base, and enhancing a community’s quality-of-life. This course also satisfies the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) course requirement for "Introduction to Economic Development".

While attending, you will develop a network of fellow economic developers, learn the fundamentals of economic development, earn graduate credit hours, and begin the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation.

Accreditation by the IEDC ensures that this course covers subject areas determined to be the core building blocks in any economic development organization.

The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to helping economic developers do their job more effectively and raising the profile of the profession. When we succeed, our members create more high-quality jobs, develop more vibrant communities, and generally improve the quality of life in their regions. They can be reached via their website or by calling 202.223.7800.
