Application for Graduate Degree
An application for degree must be filed with the Graduate School no later than the published deadlines as set by the University Registrar's Office. Degree/Certificate/Badge applications must be filed the semester before the anticipated graduation date by the deadline. Late applications for graduation will not be accepted.
The following instructions will help students complete the required form for Degree Application.

Commencement Participation Policies and Practices
Commencement ceremonies for graduate students are held in December and May in a special ceremony that honors master’s, specialist, and doctoral students. August graduates may participate in the December ceremony. Please view the USM Graduate School Commencement Participation Policies and Practices for additional information.
Graduation Deferment
Students who apply for graduation for a given semester but do not complete all requirements for the degree by published deadlines may not participate in commencement ceremonies. See below for instructions on deferment.
If after applying for graduation, you are unable to complete degree requirements on time, you must defer your graduation by completing a new application for graduation. Be sure to select "Defer application" when completing your new application.
