MECIC offers several training programs for early childhood educators. All trainings are available to independent agencies, early education centers, Head Start, and local and state early childhood associations.

Quality Trainings are two-hour professional development trainings.

Expanded Trainings provide a comprehensive approach to professional development. A four-hour program, which includes two hours for training and two hours of on-site mentoring.

Quality Training and Expanded Training topics and Registration.

Special Needs Credential is a 40-hour certificate program for childcare directors and early childhood educators. This in-depth program includes 3 training days, self-directed learning activities, and on-site mentoring. The Preschool Credential is designed for teachers who teach children ages 3-5 the Infant and Toddler Credential is designed for teachers who teach children ages birth-3. Each credential highlights best practices for high quality early inclusion. To learn more, call 601-266-6983.

Developmental and Autism Specific Screening

Opportunities for developmental and autism specific screenings will be provided to families during statewide screening days, by parent request, at early learning centers who offer the service to families, at community healthcare events, and upon referral. To schedule a screening, call 601-266-4745.

Utilizing a relationship-based developmental evaluation for children ages birth to five, MECIC provides diagnostic services for autism and developmental disabilities for children referred through the MECIC screening programs. To learn more about this service call 601-266-5622.
Family navigators conduct developmental screenings throughout the state and provide autism specific screenings for concerned families. Family navigators provide support for families from screening to diagnosis by making referrals for diagnostic evaluations, intervention services, and providing resources specific to child and family needs.
