Microsoft Office 365 for Education services provided by the university include the ability to protect your data with the Microsoft OneDrive application. Also known as "Eagle Backup," for all faculty and staff.
Eagle (Workstation) Backup Usage Policy
You can back up your important folders (your Desktop, Documents, and Pictures folders) on your computer with the Microsoft OneDrive application, they are protected and available from any device. If you haven't already set up OneDrive on your computer, see Sync files with OneDrive in Windows. There's no extra cost for PC folder backup (up to 1 TB of files without a subscription).
Backup Schedule
Protected files are continuously synchronized to the cloud if there is a connection to the network.
Data Retention
If you delete a file from your desktop, you can restore it for up to 30 days before the file is no longer available.
Files Not Eligible for Backup
The following file types can't be protected: Outlook database files (.pst) and OneNote files that aren't already stored in OneDrive (.one, .onepkg, .onetoc, .onetoc2). If these files require backup, an alternative solution must be sought.
Restoring Files
Users will be able to restore files with full version control for up to 30 days. Simply right-click and choose to restore previous version. Or recover deleted files via the Recycle bin provided in the upper left corner of your OneDrive online.
All active university employees are eligible.
To obtain Eagle Backup, all you need is to follow these instructions. If you need additional assistance, please enter an iTech Help Desk Work Order.
Files are available 24/7, except for scheduled maintenance periods.
