Southern Miss Hester Receives Second Lieutenant Commission into U.S. Army

David Austin Hester, a University of Southern Mississippi senior from Terry, Miss., received his second lieutenant commission Dec. 11 after successfully completing the university's Army Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) program. 

Hester, who graduated from the university with a degree in criminal justice and a minor in military science, will participate in the Basic Officer Leader Course at Ft. Benning, Ga. and will be assigned to Ft. Riley, Kan. He has been accepted as a Gold Bar Recruiter and will begin active duty in that capacity at Southern Miss in April 2011.
