Career Exploration for Girls Conference Scheduled for Oct. 8 at Southern Miss

The University of Southern Mississippi's Frances Karnes Center for Gifted Studies and Forrest General Hospital's Spirit of Women will co-host the annual Career Explorations for Girls Conference Oct. 8 on the Hattiesburg campus. The registration deadline is Sept. 30.

The conference is for girls in grades 7-12 and each must be accompanied by her mother or another adult female. Participants do not need to be enrolled in gifted education to attend. There is no charge for the conference and lunch is included.

Southern Miss Gulf Coast Vice President and Campus Executive Officer Dr. Frances Lucas will present the conference keynote address, titled “Set Your Goals and SOAR!” 

Other distinguished presenters will offer practical information to help girls plan their education and entry into prospective careers, including those in business, science and technology, health care, social work, communication, education, nutrition, art, architecture, psychology, law, music and sports.
