Clinton Student Selected as Southern Style Leader at Southern Miss

Austin Jackson of Clinton, Miss., has been selected as one of 23 members of Southern Style for 2011 at The University of Southern Mississippi.

Jackson, a sophomore English major, is the son of Alfred and Vivian Jackson.  He is a member of the Student Government Association and serves as a Leadership Ambassador.

Southern Style is a highly selective group of student leaders who serve as official hosts and hostesses for Southern Miss. Students are chosen each year through a three-phase selection process. One of the main responsibilities of Southern Style members is to serve as orientation leaders during the summer.

Southern Style members have the opportunity to meet all new students and their parents through numerous orientation sessions. Other Southern Style responsibilities include assisting during Founders Day, Golden Eagle Welcome Week and all commencement ceremonies. Additionally, they attend recruitment functions and serve as support staff for the First Year Experience office.
