DuBard School Pays Tribute to Advisory Board

The DuBard School for Language Disorders at The University of Southern Mississippi is celebrating a group of volunteers whose support and guidance has helped the school grow and prosper over the last 20 years.

This year marks the 20^th anniversary of the founding of DuBard School's Advisory Board. The staff at DuBard honored the hard work and commitment of the board during the group's quarterly meeting on April 18.

“The DuBard School Advisory Board is a phenomenal group of people who are deeply committed to the mission of the school,” said DuBard Director Dr. Maureen Martin. “We are immensely grateful to all who serve now as well as those who have served over the years. “The partnership and collaborative efforts of the advisory board, the staff and The University of Southern Mississippi have made a dramatic impact on the lives of hundreds of children, their families and many university students who have benefitted from practicum and volunteers experiences.”

Over the past 20 years, 83 people have served on the board. Three of the current members, Ed Langton, Doug Montague and Neal Williams (in the accompanying photo), were charter members in 1991.

The purpose of the advisory board is to assist in fundraising efforts, to educate the public about the services the DuBard School offers to children with severe communication disorders and their families and to encourage the use of the DuBard Association Method as a multisensory teaching-learning strategy.
