Event Recognizing Adjunct Faculty Members New Book set for Oct. 19

A reception recognizing the publication of University of Southern Mississippi adjunct faculty member Betty Press' book “I Am Because We Are: African Wisdom In Image and Proverb”will be held Oct. 19 from 4:30-6 p.m. in the Liberal Arts Building, second floor mezzanine.
Published in September in partnership with Books for Africa, it includes a selection of 125 black and white photos taken in East and West Africa by Press over the past 20 years, as well as proverbs selected by Tanzania native Annetta Miller.
Press, who has been with the Department of Art and Design since 2003 as an instructor of photography, gave a presentation on the book and her work last month at the Library of Congress.
