“The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber” will fill the air at two concerts presented by The University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Coast Civic Chorale, featuring a variety of songs by the popular musical theater composer.

The first performance is scheduled for Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gulfport High School auditorium. The encore performance will be Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. in the auditorium of the Fleming Education Center at the Southern Miss Gulf Park campus in Long Beach.

The concert will feature solos, small ensembles and various instruments alongside the full choir.  Many of Webber's musical pieces will be performed, including selections from “Evita,” “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Cats” and “The Phantom of the Opera.”

Now in its 16th year at Southern Miss, the chorale serves as a community outreach program welcoming all members of the Mississippi Gulf Coast community. More than 90 members sing in the ensemble, which is led by John Flanery, assistant choral director at Southern Miss.

“The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber” is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted. For more information, online visit www.usm.edu/gc/civic_chorale or call 228.865.4573.
