Gulf Coast Communications Office Receives Three Regional PR Awards

LONG BEACH, Miss. – The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Office of University Communications received three professional awards at the 2011 Southern Public Relations Federation (SPRF) Awards Banquet in Point Clear, Ala.
The office includes Shelia White, director of university communications, Judy Isbell, director of web services, and Charmaine Schmermund, public relations associate.
Isbell and White received the Award of Excellence in the Web site development category for the entry “Southern Miss Oil Spill Web Site Development.” Isbell and White also received a second Award of Excellence for the entry, “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Online Silent Auction,” in the potpourri category.
In the writing for public relations category, Schmermund received the Certificate of Merit for the entry, “Lessons from the Spill Educational Series.”
The SPRF Award of Excellence is given to work worthy of recognition and the Certificate of Merit recognizes notable work in the field of public relations.
