On the sixth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the Gulf Coast Library at The University of Southern Mississippi will host a book talk and signing featuring former CNN correspondent and Bay St. Louis native, Kathleen Koch, Monday, Aug. 29, from 5-6 p.m.

Koch will discuss and sign copies of her book, “Rising from Katrina: How My Mississippi Hometown Lost It All and Found What Mattered,” in the Fleming Education Center auditorium on the university's Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, Miss.

“Rising from Katrina” is Koch's story about her hometown of Bay St. Louis and the Mississippi Gulf Coast and their struggle following the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Koch, a veteran reporter, discusses her own personal struggle as she traveled the path from devastation to recovery.

Copies of “Rising from Katrina” will be available for purchase. Koch's visit is also a featured event of Welcome Week, the university's official kick-off for the fall semester. This event is open to the public.
