The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL) will host an evening with award-winning nature photographer Tom Ulrich at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 3, in GCRL's Caylor Auditorium.

The wildlife photography presentation will feature Ulrich's work from the past year, with a focus on the natural wonders of Texas, hummingbirds of Ecuador, and scenic shots of Glacier National Park and the Grand Tetons. Both the event and reception following are free to the public.

Ulrich grew up in South Chicago, graduated with a degree in biology from Southern Illinois University and taught biology for four years before launching his career as a freelance photographer. He has supported himself as a nature photographer for more than 35 years.

His library of more than 800,000 images includes birds and mammals from all over the world. Ulrich's photographs have been featured in publications such as National Wildlife, Audubon, National Geographic, and Montana Outdoors. He has published seven nature books.
