Hattiesburg Area Students Selected for Whos Who at Southern Miss

Eight students from the Hattiesburg area have been named to 2010-11 Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities at The University of Southern Mississippi.

The students are as follows:

Hattiesburg

·         Amy Artmann, a communication studies major, is the daughter of Tommy and Paula Artmann. She is a member of Southern Style, the Leadership Executive Team, Speech Communication Association and the Student Government Association. 

·         Suzanna Ellzey, a biochemistry major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Burke Lee Ellzey. She is an Honors College Ambassador and a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Alpha Epsilon Delta Professional Honor Society, Order of Omega Honor Society, Lambda Sigma Honor Society, Eagle Connection and Delta Delta Delta Sorority.

·         Nicolas Treat, a polymer science major, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Treat. He is a College of Science and Technology Ambassador, a Polymer Science Association Student Affiliate and an American Chemical Society Student Affiliates. 

·         Robert Deen, a business management major, is the son of Bobby and Mindy Deen. He is a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, The Legacy Board, Eagle Connection, Catholic Student Association and Golden Key International Honor Society.

Picayune

·         Kyle Nixon, a psychology major, is the son of Rose Nixon. He is a member of Southern Style, Student Government Association, The Legacy, Southern Miss Creed team, and Golden Eagle Welcome Week crew. Among his campus activities he is also senator of the College of Education and Psychology and vice president and charter member of Student United Way.

·         Kasey Mitchell, a management major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Mitchell. She is a member of Eagle Connection and Southern Miss Activities Council. Among her campus activities she is also president of the Student Government Association, president of Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women and vice president of community service and scholarship and awards for Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity.

Laurel

·         Robert Hamrick, a communication studies major, is the son of Mike and Debbi Hamrick. He is a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, Eagle Connection and Golden Eagle Welcome Week crew. Among his campus activities he is also a Leadership Ambassador and Honors College Ambassador.

·         Kristen Benigno, a communication studies major, is the daughter of Chuck and Gina Benigno. She is a member of Kappa Delta sorority, the Student Government Association, Eagle Connection, Golden Eagle Welcome Week Crew, College Republicans and the Communication Studies Association.

There were 40 students at Southern Miss selected for this prestige award.  Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities is the highest award the academic community bestows. Students are chosen based on the following criteria: grade point average, community involvement, future leadership ability and/or potential and participation and leadership within school organizations and extracurricular activities.
