Homecoming Court, Mr. and Miss Southern Miss Chosen in Campus Elections

The Southern Miss 2011 Homecoming Court includes, from left: Ann Marie Chilcutt, Sophomore Maid; Nikki Snellman, Junior Maid; Tierra Clemmons, Student Body Maid; Kaitin Dement, Queen; Sicily Axton, graduate maid; Kehsia Dillon, Senior Maid; and Sarah-Bailey Roberts, Freshman Maid.

Students at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and on the Gulf Coast recently chose representatives for the 2011 Southern Miss Homecoming Court and Mr. and Miss Southern Miss during campus elections sponsored by the Student Government Association.

The court and Mr. and Miss Southern Miss will be presented Saturday, Oct. 22 at halftime of the Southern Miss vs. Southern Methodist University homecoming football game. This year is the first time Southern Miss Gulf Coast has elected a representative maid for the Homecoming Court.

2011 Homecoming Court and Mr. and Miss Southern Miss representatives include:

Homecoming Queen Kaitlin Dement, a senior nursing student from Mobile, Ala. Dement is president of Kappa Delta Sorority, and a member of Southern Style 2010 and the Student Nursing Association. She is the daughter of Richard and Rhonda Southerland.

Student Body Maid Tierra Clemmons is a senior from Columbus, MS. Clemmons is a Broadcast Journalism major, president of the National Panhellenic Council, 2010 Golden Eagle Welcome Week Executive Director, and a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. She is the daughter of Johnny and Joyce Clemmons.

Graduate Maid Sicily Axton from Laurel, Miss. is pursuing her Master's Degree in Public Relations. Axton is the Graduate Assistant for the USM Honors College, a Kappa Delta Sorority alumna, and graduated Highest Honors from Southern Miss in 2010. She is the daughter of Tim and Susan Axton.

Senior Maid Keshia Dillon is a paralegal studies major from Tylertown, Miss. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Paralegal Society Club, and the Future Black Law Student Association. Dillon is the daughter of Eddie and Sandra Dillon.
 
Junior Maid Nikki Snellman is a curriculum, instruction and special education major from Daphne, Ala. Snellman is a member of Chi Omega Sorority, Southern Style 2011 and an Eagle Ambassador. She is the daughter of Michelle and Gavin Dixon.

Sophomore Maid Ann Marie Chilcutt is a communication studies major from West Point, Miss. Chilcutt is a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Reformed University Fellowship, and on the Leadership Scholars Executive Team. She is the daughter of Jack and Laurie Chilcutt.

Freshman Maid Sarah-Bailey Roberts is a kinesiology major from Yazoo City, Miss. Roberts is an Eminent Scholar, a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and Students Against Destructive Decisions. She is the daughter of Stephen and Jennifer Bowman and the late Gregg Roberts.


Gulf Coast Maid Ashley Parnell Halferty is a senior accounting major from Kiln, Miss. Halferty is a member of the Accounting Society, a Heart Walk volunteer and is employed with the College of Business. She is the daughter of Anthony and Theresa Parnell and is married to Stephen Halferty. They have one son, Jaxen.
 
Mr. Southern Miss John Barr is a senior sociology major from Gautier, Miss. Barr is a Presidential Scholar, the president of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and a member of the Student Government Association. He is the son of Robert and Vivian Barr.


Miss Southern Miss Ashley Betts is a senior finance major from Meridian, Miss. Betts is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Student Government Association and The Legacy – the Student Alumni Association. She is the daughter of Anita Betts and the late Sylvester Betts.
