Information for the Southern Miss Community About Tropical Storm Lee

The University of Southern Mississippi Police Department advises members of the university community to be aware of the potential for inclement weather conditions due to Tropical Storm Lee, which is forecast to impact south Mississippi and southeastern Louisiana this weekend and through Tuesday, Sept. 6. Members of the campus community are advised to monitor weather news updates on local radio and television newscasts, as well as through the Internet.
Because of the potential impact of Tropical Storm Lee, tonight's Friday Night at the Fountain Pep Rally on the Hattiesburg campus has been cancelled; in addition, Sunday's home women's soccer match between Southern Miss and Mississippi State University has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Sept.13, at 4 p.m.
Today's 4 p.m. home women's soccer match against Southeastern Louisiana will be played as scheduled; and Southern Miss' home football contest against Louisiana Tech University is still set for Saturday, Sept. 4 at 9 p.m.

Southern Miss Students, Faculty and Staff Cautioned
about Areas Prone to Flooding
Because of the potential impact of Tropical Storm Lee, students, faculty, staff and visitors at University of Southern Mississippi campuses and teaching sites are asked to be aware of the potential for flash flooding through Tuesday due to rain associated with this weather system. These conditions may make some campus roads impassable or hazardous to navigate.
Students and employees at all Southern Miss Gulf Coast locations should be aware of areas prone to flooding. Take precautions now, during and after the tropical storm landfall to protect university property and ensure the safety of our community.
Locations on the Hattiesburg campus where flooding occurs that could cause damage to vehicles parked in these areas include the following:
* 31st and Pearl in the area of 108 North 31st Avenue
* 31st and Southern Miss at Arthell Kelly Hall, behind the Junior Food Mart
* 30th and Southern Miss at Arthell Kelly Hall, behind the Junior Food Mart
* Eagle Walk and Black and Gold Drive at the football practice field
* Eagle Walk and north side of M.M. Roberts Stadium
* Golden Eagle Drive at the raised cross walk
* Kay James Drive at the DuBard School
* Fraternity Drive at Montague Street
* Pinehaven Circle at Delta Gamma house
