Adam's work, “Recovering from Hurricane Katrina, Small Business Owners Conquer Katrina: A Mixed-Methodology Study”, was selected by the Graduate Senate and Dean of the College of Graduate Studies for the Yarbrough Award and as the top paper in her department. Winners receive recognition and a monetary award.

The symposium took place on March 18, 2011 and provided graduate students an opportunity to present their research to faculty, staff, students and members of the broader university community. This symposium is designed to enhance the scholarly environment for graduate students and to highlight the quality, innovative, and diverse scholarship of Southern Miss graduate students.
