LONG BEACH, Miss. – The Gulf Coast Library at The University of Southern Mississippi will present two free community workshops Sept. 21-22 in the library room 213 on the Gulf Park campus in Long Beach. These one-hour sessions are part of the library's “60 Minutes to Success” initiative.

The first workshop, “Learn How to Use Microsoft Office,” will be held Wednesday, Sept. 21, from 3-4 p.m. This one-hour session will teach participants how to use charts, spreadsheets, presentations and word processing skills. These free learning sessions are geared toward enhancing and improving social and professional skills.

The second workshop, “Using Electronic Books Online,” will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, from 3- 4 p.m. and will discuss how the world of books is changing. With more titles being offered in an electronic format, this workshop will show how to use NetLibrary to access this growing format.

All workshops are conducted by professional library staff and registration is not required. Most workshops rotate and will be held again throughout the fall semester. Other workshops include learning how to take tests online, learning how to use databases to search for grants, and using electronic books online.
