Whitney Miller, a University of Southern Mississippi alumna and winner of the first MasterChef title from season one of the Fox television show, will see a dream come true Tuesday, July 5 with the national launch of her new cookbook “Modern Hospitality: Simple Recipes with Southern Charm”.

Miller will be in Hattiesburg that day signing copies of the book at A-Gallery, located at 134 East Front St. in downtown Hattiesburg. A national cookbook launch party will be held that evening, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Hattiesburg Train Depot, where visitors will be able to sample recipes from the cookbook and watch Miller's guest appearance on season two of the show.

Featuring a wide variety of tested recipes, the cookbook has taken several months to put together and Miller is excited at the prospect of its introduction to the public. It includes a forward from MasterChef's main judge Gordon Ramsay.

‘It's definitely been a dream of mine to have this opportunity, and to have it happen at such a young age when I'm already on my career path is a real blessing,” said Miller, a Poplarville, Miss, native.

After posting photos of the book's culinary delights on Facebook and Twitter, Miller said she's received multiple requests from friends for the recipes. “I never shared them,” Miller laughed. “I would say, ‘Wait until the book comes out.'”

A-Galley is partnering with the city of Hattiesburg and Visit Hattiesburg (http://hattiesburg.org/) in sponsoring the event. “We're not only honored to have Whitney sign her book at the store, but also to be asked to host the launch party,” said Gail Albert, owner of A-Gallery.

Albert said she first came to know Whitney when she was a little girl coming to visit downtown Hattiesburg for Art Walk with her family. She said what impressed her most when watching Miller win the title last year was how she never lost her focus.

“It's been so neat to watch her grow up and become such a tremendous success in what she's passionate about doing,” Albert said.
