Three days packed with panel discussions, keynote addresses and vendor exhibits will highlight the 2011 National Sports Safety and Security Conference and Exhibition set for Aug. 2-4 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans.

More than 400 security professionals and 56 vendor exhibits are expected for the second annual conference which is sponsored by the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security (NCS4) at The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss.

“Last year we had a sellout and we anticipate the same response from attendees for our second conference,” said NCS4 Director Dr. Lou Marciani. “I don't think you can overstate the significance of an event such as this. We will have some of the country's leading experts on safety and security sharing ideas and presenting evidence in best practices for keeping our citizens safe.”

Southern Miss President Martha Saunders will offer some opening remarks shortly after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, followed by a keynote address from NASCAR President Mike Helton.

Established in 2006, the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security was created to provide an interdisciplinary academic environment to further increase sport security awareness, improve sport security policies and procedures and enhance emergency response through evacuation, recovery operations and crowd management training.
