Petal Native Reiter Tapped for New Position with Alumni Association

Dane Reiter, former manager of The University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association's constituent relations, is the Association's new associate director for internal operations. The Petal native and Southern Miss alum will oversee accounting, database management, human resources and office management functions of the Association.

“After spending a large portion of the last decade as a student at Southern Miss and working for the association, I've become very passionate about the future of the university,” said Reiter, a Petal, Miss. native. “The employees of the Alumni Association are committed to the advancement of both the Association and our University, and I'm honored to have this opportunity.”

Prior to joining the Alumni Association staff, Reiter worked as a business analyst with the university's Business Office on the Hattiesburg campus, serving as a liaison between the functional and technical areas of the department while implementing and integrating a new university-wide student refund process.

“Over the past six months, Dane has proven he has the skills necessary for success in this position,” said Jerry DeFatta, executive director of the Alumni Association. “His experience with database management has already benefited our organization, and we look forward to our continued improvement in this important area under his leadership.”
